Sonoma Coast beaches

Sonoma Coast beaches

Craggy cliffs and dark sand cover the Sonoma coastline, a scenic stretch unlike most of California. While it’s a beautiful drive along the coves of Sonoma Coast State Beach, many of the beaches are not suitable for children due to jagged rocks, harsh currents and chilly weather year-round.

Nonetheless, if you’re here on an adults-only vacation or just stopping through, a few highlights of this area are:

Doran Park: A rare sandy beach teeming with crabs and other sea life.
Goat Rock: A protected outcropping, home to seals.
Bodega Bay: A small fishing village with some amenities; filming location of Alfred Hitchcock’s The Birds.
